Governments may try to wish away the existence of sexual exploitation of children in tourism, especially early in the development of the tourism industry. When a country’s cultural wealth and natural beauty are suddenly in demand, officials may prefer to ignore the unintended consequences.

 

But governments worldwide are facing this unpleasant fact, and are combating sexual tourism in a number of innovative and exemplary ways, together with Non Governmental Organizations (NGO’s), representatives of tourists’ home countries, and the travel industry.
