The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) brings together 140 national journalists' unions and associations from 104 countires.
With the "Campaign Against Sexual Exploitation of Children in Tourism" the IFJ started a project to promote cooperation between journalists, children's rights activists and representatives from the tourism industry. This project involves various activities including the publication of a Manual for Journalists and NGOs. The aim is to promote more effective and more professional cooperation between the media and organisations working on children's rights.
The manual includes the IFJ guidelines and principles for reporting on children. It also considers the moral and ethical problems faced by journalists reporting on the exploitation of children, particularly where child sex tourism is concerned.
